Tenant involvement and empowerment
Involving and empowering our tenants is at the heart of everything we do. Our Tenant Scrutiny Panel, Community Voice and other tenant panels all play a huge part in shaping the future of our organisation. We value all our involved tenants and would love to see more of you on board, why not get in touch to find out more?
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group is made up of staff and tenants and is another important group to us as they make sure equality and diversity feeds into and is considered in everything we do.
Next Level Project success
Our Next Level Team works with clients that are employment to stay in employment and build a long and successful career.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund and aims to help motivate and train lower skilled workers.
Our team of tutor mentors works with their clients to create individual plans to help them progress in their career.
Andy attended one of our Open Door Events which invited people to find out more about the project. He was working for a bank as a Customer Service Advisor and had a 25-mile commute to Hull each day. He really wanted to pursue a career in HR management but was struggling to get the break he needed.
Neil Crisp, Tutor Mentor, worked with Andy to put together a support plan to get him the skills and confidence he needed to achieve his goals. This included social media training, gaining a Microsoft Excel qualification, interview preparation and CV writing. They even secured him a voluntary placement with Ongo’s HR Team.
All of this support helped Andy to succeed in securing a HR officer role for a chain of nurseries in North Lincolnshire.
Over the last 12 months, the team has supported 298 people to better their career prospects, with 65 securing news jobs.
Solving the housing crisis
Earlier this year we were involved in a national housing campaign which explored the roles that housing associations play in solving the UK’s housing crisis.
The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) launched the campaign with a programme produced in partnership with ITN Productions. It explore the challenges facing the housing sector and how housing associations are going above and beyond to support their tenants.
We decided to get involved to really showcase the services and support we offer to our tenants above and beyond providing a home for them.
Take a look at our video below to hear about the work of our housing officers and how they work with our community teams to improve people’s chances in life.

What we’re doing to improve
We have a Customer Complaint Monitoring Group that meets and monitor complaints made to us. The group is made up of tenants who look at ways to improve the services we give and drive change.
